Applied Logic Laboratory (ALL) was established in 1986 from a group of mathematicians and experts of different fields of computer science and software engineering with the initial aim of sentencing themselves to scientific research and development of intelligent systems in different fields of application. ALL's fundamental idea has been a wide scale of researches based on a new, unified logic oriented approach in the area of advanced information technology. In the meantime ALL has become an organisation of international reputation with a wide network of scientific co-operation including joint R+D groups in Moscow and Kiev.

ALL's main activity is in development of various methods of plausible reasoning including statistical, logical and fuzzy logic methods, case-based reasoning and methods based on analogy. These methods are used to realise abduction, deduction and induction for reasoning.

The reasoning methods developed and applied by ALL includes several methods for data mining and knowledge extraction:
· Statistical methods (used in geological and medical expert systems).
· Plausible logical methods (used in pharmacological design system and diagnostic system).
· Neuron network (used in medical decision support system).

The main area of ALL's engineering activity is microelectronics. Microelectronic R+D concerns the measuring of electromagnetic fields. Special devices were developed to measure the state of the human organism for the field of bio resonance.

ALL also has experience in modelling different processes of living systems. Special methods and tools have been developed for this purpose, such as the neural network that consists of active neurons. These methods provide, among others, tools in non-linear dynamics to analyse the self-organization processes of the network of active neurons.

ALL has participated in the development of a methodology and environment for knowledge based medical systems, named "partner systems"(PS). PS includes special tools for information modelling and threshold logic based decision-making. In this frame several medical systems have been developed, among others a system supporting decision making in every phase of the care of nephrology, namely in diagnosis, treatment selection and indication of transplantation.

ALL has developed a methodology and a decision support system to determine the state of the patient in order to establish an accurate diagnosis as well as to select an optimal treatment. This method is based on immunological parameters. The methodology has been used in different fields of medicine, e.g. in defining the requirements in extracorporal detoxication (such as dialysis) of the patients and control this process by monitoring the patients.

ALL has developed a new logic based technology for advanced medical informatics, which provides efficient tools to organise tailored information environment with client-server architecture and tools to support problem solving and decision-making processes. The technology is used to develop an intelligent medical environment.

ALL participates in R+D projects, develops special program systems and markets its services and products.

Some of the areas of interest lately:
· Knowledge Processing and Knowledge Transfer
· Knowledge Acquisition and Data Mining
· Knowledge base Integration
· Machine Learning
· Medical Informatics
· Guideline-based Decision Support Systems
· Intelligent Assistant Systems
· Intelligent Geo-information Systems
· Modelling systems of high complexity and modelling for the solution of sophisticated, high scale scientific tasks
· Electromagnetic measuring device development.

Some of the program systems developed by ALL itself or in cooperation.

HYP-HOP: an expert system for diagnosis and treatment of hypertension. It has a guideline-oriented knowledge base. This system includes a concept and rule editor, an integrated problem solver, and completely modular expert-system architecture.

ENEF: threshold (neuron) network that supports knowledge extraction. It uses new machine learning method. It has various medical application, e.g. in pulmanology, cardiology, genicology, pediatry and nephrology).

SAND: that provides data modelling and visualization tools and it supports the application of various statistical methods. By the use of these statistical methods it supports the extraction of different relationships among data.

IGE: an intelligent geological environment for exploring natural resources, forecasting earthquake and predicting the behaviour and the properties of various geological phenomena.

APPROX: multi aspect analysis and processing of large quantity of data. It is augmented with various methods of statistical analysis and with cognitive graphical tools. It also provides case-based reasoning. It is also used for geological data.

Applied Logic Laboratory has the following accomplishments and work in the areas related to the proposed research.

1995 - 1997 Development of devices to analyse the electric field of the human body.
1997 - 1998 Development of intelligent electromegnetic shop security systems.
