PRO DV is a leading software and consulting company for space-related and process-oriented business applications. In other words, everywhere that deals with business process optimisation, the use of space-related data and customer services. Our services and products are designed to help people particularly in industry, energy-supply and telecommunications companies, public authorities or in forestry.
Our
solutions provide our customers with more efficient working processes, reduced
operating costs and a higher quality of service for their customers at the
same time - in other words: the key factors that are decisive in remaining
competitive in today's world.
PRO DV was founded in 1979 as a software developer for technical information
systems. Even at that time the engineers were concentrating on the market
of energy-supply companies.
The company soon expanded its operations to include the areas of process control in industry and forestry. Today we employ more than 200 employees at five sites in our business segments "Business Process Optimisation", "Spatial Resource Management" and "Internet-based Customer Services". Of particular importance here are research into new Internet technologies and their concrete application in software development. Furthermore, within the segment "Spatial Resource Management" we develop embedded systems to be used e.g. as routing information for truck drivers. PRO DV operates at a large number of sites within Germany: in Dortmund, Dresden, Cologne, Hausach and Nuremberg. Our quality management system was certified for compliance with ISO 9001 in June 1995.
Description
of Past Experience in Software Engineering
PRO DV continuously improves the development process. Within the ESSI-project
No. 21628 called IMPACT we already successfully improved the quality management
system of PRO DV by establishing methods and tools for horizontal activities
of the software process: project, configuration, and change management. Within
the PIE ITEM (No. 27928) we improved the software test process independent
from platform and program development environment.
However,
the above mentioned projects are again only a further milestone in the continuous
and stepwise improvement process of our quality management system. We have
identified methods, technologies and tools for requirements engineering as
a main potential for further improvements.
