Since 1992 RegioData is a Software Systems House focussing on the delivery of complete computer network installations, the customising and installation of market available software products as well as on the development of customer specific ICT solutions and ICT Consulting/ Services. Customers of RegioData cover a wide range of branches like bank houses, trade companies up to manufacturing companies. A key focus of RegioData is in the touristic and maritime transport area. Up to now they have obtained experience and achieved successes in the area of ICT solutions for shipping enterprises (e.g. RF Reederei, URAG, T & S Reederei, Eugen Friedrich, Börteschiffer Helgoland, Reederei AG Ems (Emden / Borkum), Deutsche Bahn Harlesiel, DGzRS etc.). RegioData contributed to the realisation of the Norderney Card and a key product is PREFAS a booking system for ship transportation. The delivery of complete system solution to customers also covering a complete and high quality after sales service. There are 52 employees active at RegioData (with a tendency to increase). Over 60% of the employees are working in the area of system installation, software development and systems maintenance (computer scientists, computer/commercial engineers, systems technologists, engineers).
Experience regarding SE: In the area of ICT systems, RegioData has experience in the development of comprehensive solutions. The competence that RegioData has acquired in the past in the area of shipping companies was substantially enlarged through the project "Reservation Systems" which also extended their leading position on the market in this area. Substantial company growth could be gained through the marketing of the solution in the bus transport sector. This additional market segment would secure further job openings at RegioData and in the region.
In
order to be able to realise specific individual software competitively and
to maintain the product and quality features of complex software systems as
required by users, RegioData has already improved the efficiency of its software
production process so that they can adjust the features of their products
especially concerning portability, service, extendibility, flexibility, internet-capability,
user-friendliness and safety to the continuos rising requirements of modern
information systems. The accomplishment of these extensive standards was the
challenging target and is a strategically enterprise requirement for the future
competitive ability and expansion on the highly innovative market sector of
modern data base supported information systems. RegioData, is currently applying
the advanced component-based development concept in connection to the establishment
of an archive of versatile implementable components and the use of the object-oriented
programming language JAVA. The configuration management, design and implementation
life cycle sectors are well defined. This enables to establish the required
conditions to quickly develop cost-efficient individual solutions designed
for the application specific conditions of the customer. As explained before,
the main weak point in the SE approach currently applied by RegioData is gathering
of requirements, specifically regarding the maintainability issues.
