SIGNALKOMPLEX Ltd. is a private owned company with the primary objectives of the owners to activate the Hungarian intellectual capital, to use and apply the modern technical achievements in the field of the development, manufacturing and selling of the products. The company's main activities focus on the traffic lights traffic management. The most important products of the firm are composing of the SKV 1000, SKV 2000 appliance families, illuminated traffic signs, traffic signs with LED or optical fibre cable, pedestrian push-buttons, pedestrian sound devices, DCF receivers (Hambourg exact time), program exchange clocks, phone or radio-phone two sites on-line communication with the traffic management control equipment respectively with the group-controllers (SFR), alarm automatics.
Signalkomplex Traffic Control System was designed and developed to satisfy all aspects of the typical requirements of the late 90's in Hungary, while looking ahead to the next millennium. Traffic conditions in Hungary today could be characterised by the following dominating factors:
·
rapidly increasing traffic (substantial growth in the number of cars),
· insufficient funds for traffic related improvements,
· rapid growth in telecommunications (improving telephone services,
cellular phones, fast and better quality modems, ISDN, Internet).
In view
of the above, we have developed a system that is
· inexpensive
· flexible, and
· capable of expanding.
Signalkomplex Traffic Control System is best characterised by its modular construction and the variability of its components. With this method we were able to combine traditional connections (using a closed circuit cable network) with new methods, such as public telephone lines (that has just recently become a viable option) or other communication channels provided by independent contractors. Via standard platforms it is now (or will be) possible to employ new data transmission systems. The connection of the various elements constitutes the most cost intensive component of any traffic control system. The installation of a system's own cable network is only feasible in the case of short distances. This solution is apparently ruled out in terms of a traffic control system that serves a large area, such as an entire county. In this case the solution is to use the services of telecommunications companies: regular telephone lines, radio telephone connection, leased lines, ISDN, or the soon-to-be-introduced wireless communication lines developed specifically for data transmission.
STCS is designed to handle the remote monitoring of systems of practically any size, whether it consists of one or several thousand units. In addition to traffic control equipment, various data collection devices can also be hooked up to the system, such as detectors, weather monitoring devices and digital cameras. It is capable of handling complex functions, such as control traffic signs with variable symbols and traffic information display boards, or simple ones, such as activating illuminated traffic signs from the dispatch centre.
The
system offers a great variety of services: monitoring everyday operations,
central program selection, display of site layouts, program modification through
transmission points, mass transportation support, etc. Generally speaking,
today's technological solutions are increasingly software oriented, which
means that hardware options can be improved without the replacement of the
equipment. The Signalkomplex Traffic Control System contains all elements
required for the improvement and extension of services to satisfy present
and future demands along with customised solutions for special requirements.
