ZIV Aplicaciones y Tecnología, S.A. is a manufacturer of Metering, Control and Protection systems for Energy transport lines of medium to high voltage. Their solutions are interesting due to the ease with which they can be reconfigured, and their state-of-the-art products.

ZIV has been pioneer in its field, introducing communication services and teleconfiguration appliances in their equipment, in order to be able to remotely reconfigure their software and services their appliances provide. This added value makes the products more complicated and requires more complex development, for hardware as much as for software.

Regarding software development, ZIV technicians develop all of their own software tools. ZIV has a wide range of its own products already tested and working, and their customers are primarily big utilities companies (Electrical Energy distributors, such as Iberdrola, Sevillana, Endesa, REE in Spain, EDP in Portugal, EDF in France…) who on a daily basis want to improve the quality on their distribution networks.

This fact implies that there must be continuous interaction between the Control provider and the user, because as products with high added value and with exhaustive quality control, they are applied in critical systems, and therefore, the accomplishment of the client's requirements is critical.
